How ratings work

Community scores

Community scores are calculated live from reviews submitted by registered members. Every member rates five categories from 1 to 10: Aroma, Flavour, Texture, Melt / Cleanliness and Overall. The score you see on a batch is the average of real submitted reviews — it is never stored as an editable number.

• One review per member, per batch. Members can edit their own review, not anyone else's.
• One helpful vote per member, per review.
• Leaderboards use a weighted ranking, so a single 10/10 cannot outrank a 9.5 built on sixty reviews.
• Batches need a few reviews before they appear in Top Rated. Unrated batches show NEW, never a fake score.

Editorial scores

House of Rosin editorial reviews are our own independent assessments, with their own score and tasting notes. Editorial scores are never combined with community scores and never move them. Every editorial review carries a disclosure: “Sample provided by producer” or “Product independently sourced”. The disclosure is information for you — it has no effect on the score.

Sponsorship

Sponsored placements are always labelled SPONSORED. Sponsorship cannot change a community score, an editorial score, a ranking calculation or review visibility. We will never disguise advertising as an independent review.

Ratings trust

Duplicate reviews, repeat helpful votes and self-voting are blocked at database level, not merely hidden in the interface. Reported reviews go to human moderation.
